HOW CHAPTERS WORK

Each chapter is managed by the chapter program officer. The program officer onboards grantees to the Build a Scholar platform. The officer also works with grantee in scholar selection. Once a grant application is made, the program officer does basic diligence and send application to the chapter selection panel. The panel consists of dignified people from local community. The panel usually will have retired principals, child psychiatrists, and other members from academia.

Once a grant application is submitted by a grantee, the foundation chapter completes the basic diligence. Approved applications from chapter goes to the Foundation legal for diligence. At the end of the due diligence phase, the Foundation will provide a contract including clear objectives (based upon the Foundation’s programming and the grant application) for the use of funds. A milestone-based payment schedule will be included in the contract, along with specific reporting deliverables.

In most cases, the foundation pays school fees directly to the relevant schools and the child welfare support costs to the grantee (School or NGO).
